Day 2-5

Day 5:
42 miles
Today should have been the day for me to make up some miles. Their was almost no rain when I started riding, in fact it didn't rain until about 4-ish. Then the shit hit the fan! I am staying at my friend Steve's place in DC. It's nice and dry just the way I like it. Thanks Steve. I guess that's it for now. Well my pinky on my right hand has been kind of numb since about mile 50 the first day, that's cool, right? So long for now, I hope I don't quit!

Day 4:
Wow a whole 45 miles. I had to take a taxi over the pulaski bridge, it's not a pedestrian bridge. Again I just couldn't deal with the rain. At least i tied plastic bags around my shoes to keep them dry. Scott found me a place to stay with his friends Amy and Lee. They were awesome and it was very nice of them let a stranger stay at their place. Thanks guys you rule!

Day 3:
78 miles: Shawn made me a bagel then I hit the road. It rained hard all day. I had wet shoes from the start and I hate wet shoes more than anything. I had to stop at Walmart and buy some aqua socks. If my feet are going to be wet at least my regular shoes can stay dry. I ate a very good lunch at a shell gas station, yum hotdogs! Then the rain just got to be too much. I found a motel room for the night. The dirtiest room i've ever stayed in. I highly recomend the Relax Inn in Perryville. I was really glad I had those aqua socks so i could take a shower!

This place was so gross i laid plastic down before I put my clothes on the bed. At least it was dry.

This is must if you love great art. It kind of makes me want to start hitting the gym!

I can't believe it's been 5 days. I have made very little progress. It has been raining non fucking stop. It's very hard for me to keep it together, I feel like throwing in the towel, the wet towel!

Day 2:
I stayed in Philly with Shawn. I wanted to wait out the rain, well it barely rained that day! Shawn was kind enough to drive me all over creation looking for a seat. As it tured out all we needed to do was go to the bike shop near his house. I saw an old friend from St. Pete, That was pretty cool.

Day off at Shawn's. Slept in and made some coffee. (french press)

Joey, don't get discouraged. Take your time and keep riding. If you decide to stop that's okay..rainy season will be over soon and you can do it again. Keep in touch daily with me and never forget how much I love you.
Love, Mom
