Day 9: Chesapeake to Brooklyn 368 Miles

This was a super shitty day. I got to Chesapeake in less than 3 hours wtf. How was i making such good time going in the wrong direction? I got the car, loaded it up, and drove home. It was a long hard drive. For bad or good it was over.

Day 8: Suffolk to Ahoskie 83 Miles

I started riding from Suffolk VA. I could not ride my bike south out of Newport News so Jed gave me a ride across the bridge, and then some. I got a late start, but i was going to take it easy so it didn't really matter. At about noon I passed Merchants Millpond State Park where i planned on camping that night. It was way too early to stop so i kept on. My lack of planning came back to bite me in the ass that afternoon. With no cell service and no idea where I was going to sleep I had a mini nervous break down, Awesome! At about 5:30 I finally got cell service in one little area and found out that the next closest place to stay was a motel 34 miles away. SHIT! I figured out that I could leave my path and head west about 10 miles to the beautiful town of Ahoskie NC, Population:12. I took shelter at the Tommahawk Motel where I continued to have a personal meltdown! That was it for me for some reason I just knew I was over it! A few hours later I had a plan, I was going to sleep on it but I knew what I wanted to do. What a hard desision it was. I was quitting early and heading home. I felt so fucking defeated. The next morning I would ride 50 miles north to Chesapeake VA, rent a car from Avis and drive home with the feeling of failure heavy on my heart!

Day 7 Fredericksburg to Williamsburg (not Brooklyn, yet) 94.3 miles

After leaving the comforts of KOA I Headed south towards Richmond. Again I ended up on a bike route. The VA 1. It was a quite ride for the most part. From about 10:00 on its was sunny and beautiful. I ate Chick-Fil-A for lunch and I was off again. The plan was to ride to Newport News and meet up with Jed. Well I ended up in Williamsburg where Jed's friend Betty was nice enough to pick me up. It was a 15 car ride on the freeway and we were there. After unloading Jed and I went for some food and to check out his skate park. I don't think skateboarding was the best idea but it's in my blood. I can't go to a skate parks and not at least roll around. Off to bed.

Day 6 DC to Fredericksburg 75.6 miles

All in all this was a good day. It began a bit cloudy but by about 11 the sun started to peak its head out. Somehow, not with my highly detailed planning I found a bike path out of DC. It took me all the way to Mt Vernon where i saw the ghost of George Washington. He told me that I would be staying at the KOA campground in Fredericksburg later that night. For some reason the cabins were almost the same price as the tent sites. Needless to say, I took a cabin which had wifi and a space heater to dry my sweaty clothes. That's what i call roughing it! I ate another gas station meal at the Fas Mart then Made my way into nature. I ended up watching Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist on my Ipod before i crashed out! As 2 am rolled around I was happy to have shelter, their was one hell of a thunderstorm beating down! Ah KOA .

Day 2-5

Day 5:
42 miles
Today should have been the day for me to make up some miles. Their was almost no rain when I started riding, in fact it didn't rain until about 4-ish. Then the shit hit the fan! I am staying at my friend Steve's place in DC. It's nice and dry just the way I like it. Thanks Steve. I guess that's it for now. Well my pinky on my right hand has been kind of numb since about mile 50 the first day, that's cool, right? So long for now, I hope I don't quit!

Day 4:
Wow a whole 45 miles. I had to take a taxi over the pulaski bridge, it's not a pedestrian bridge. Again I just couldn't deal with the rain. At least i tied plastic bags around my shoes to keep them dry. Scott found me a place to stay with his friends Amy and Lee. They were awesome and it was very nice of them let a stranger stay at their place. Thanks guys you rule!

Day 3:
78 miles: Shawn made me a bagel then I hit the road. It rained hard all day. I had wet shoes from the start and I hate wet shoes more than anything. I had to stop at Walmart and buy some aqua socks. If my feet are going to be wet at least my regular shoes can stay dry. I ate a very good lunch at a shell gas station, yum hotdogs! Then the rain just got to be too much. I found a motel room for the night. The dirtiest room i've ever stayed in. I highly recomend the Relax Inn in Perryville. I was really glad I had those aqua socks so i could take a shower!

This place was so gross i laid plastic down before I put my clothes on the bed. At least it was dry.

This is must if you love great art. It kind of makes me want to start hitting the gym!

Commodore John Barry Bridge looking towards NJ

I can't believe it's been 5 days. I have made very little progress. It has been raining non fucking stop. It's very hard for me to keep it together, I feel like throwing in the towel, the wet towel!

Day 2:
I stayed in Philly with Shawn. I wanted to wait out the rain, well it barely rained that day! Shawn was kind enough to drive me all over creation looking for a seat. As it tured out all we needed to do was go to the bike shop near his house. I saw an old friend from St. Pete, That was pretty cool.

Day off at Shawn's. Slept in and made some coffee. (french press)
